Why monitor Alternate’s prices
Alternate is an online tech and computing retailer that started in Germany and also sells in Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium. If you sell components, laptops, peripherals or electronics in those countries, Alternate is one of the retailers shoppers compare your price against. And in tech, prices change often, especially with every launch and every promotion.
Boardfy matches your products with their Alternate listings and checks its price every 6 hours in all four countries, along with your other competitors’ prices. Boardfy does not change prices on Alternate: every 30 minutes it applies your rules and sends the price changes to your shop, your platform or your ERP.

Monitoring
Alternate’s price on every one of your products
For each product, Boardfy shows you Alternate’s price in the country you choose, your price and the difference between the two, along with the other competitors you monitor.
So you can see where Alternate is the cheapest on the market and where you beat it. It is Boardfy’s competitor monitoring applied to Alternate.
Pricing intelligence
Your catalogue against Alternate, by price band
Boardfy sorts your catalogue by how far your price is from Alternate’s: from the products where you are more than 10% cheaper to those that are more than 10% dearer, plus the ones Alternate doesn’t sell.
This view shows you where you can raise the price without losing sales, because you are already well below, and where you are so far above that shoppers go to Alternate.

Price history
When Alternate changes its prices
Boardfy stores every check, so you can see week by week Alternate’s price against yours and your competitors’: when it drops, how long the cut lasts and whether the others follow.
In tech, where a product’s price falls over its lifetime, that history helps you decide whether to follow a price cut or hold your price.

Dynamic pricing
A rule against Alternate, from start to finish
You sell a gaming laptop at €1,299.00 including VAT, it costs you €900 excluding VAT, and Alternate sells it in Germany at €1,249.00. Your rule says “€1 below Alternate with a minimum margin of 12%”, with the margin calculated on the selling price excluding VAT (19% in Germany).
Boardfy works out that at €1,248.00 you undercut Alternate and keep a 14.2% margin, so it changes the price in your shop. If Alternate dropped to €1,199 tomorrow, Boardfy would not go below €1,217.05, your minimum price. This is how Boardfy’s dynamic pricing works against Alternate.

When to follow Alternate and when not to
Alternate cutting a price doesn’t always mean you have to cut yours. These are the most common situations and what Boardfy does in each one according to your rules.
| Situation | What Boardfy does | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Alternate cuts a laptop by 5% and is now cheaper than you | Lowers your price to just below, if your margin allows | You follow Alternate only where it pays |
| Alternate goes below your minimum price | Stays at your minimum price | You never go below your minimum margin |
| Alternate raises its price again when a promotion ends | Raises your price again to what your rule sets | You win back the margin you had given up |
| You are more than 10% cheaper than Alternate | Raises the price according to your rule | You earn more margin and stay cheaper |
| Alternate doesn’t stock the product | Compares you with your other competitors | Your rule keeps working without Alternate |
